Samrath Singh

Samrath Singh is a rising senior at Boston College studying Finance, Accounting and Computer Science. He is a Division I baseball player for Boston College and was recently named the ‘2020 Sophomore Male Scholar Athlete of the Year’. He loves to sing, dance, play the guitar, and have a good time. His career goal is to join Major League Baseball.

  • ● Samrath says that he "wears his heart on his sleeve." What does he mean by this? What examples does he give that support this statement? How does visible features such as a turban and a beard make the Sikh identity unique?

    ● When talking about cultural literacy, Samrath makes the statement, "I will never fault someone for mistaking who I am, as so long as that person is open and willing to learn about who I identify as, who I actually am." We cannot know about every culture and religion and will always be encountering new and unfamiliar cultures, and so cultural literacy is as much about having an open mindset as it is about knowing facts and details about different cultures. With so many possible cultures to learn about, how do you decide what to learn about? How do you approach learning about a new culture or religion when you meet someone from that community?
